What is a good way of using pockets of time?

Living in a bustling city like Tokyo, long commutes are a fact of life. But what if you could use that time productively? Believe it or not, your commute can be a golden opportunity to improve your English.

The average Tokyo commute clocks in at around an hour and a half, which can be a significant chunk of your day. Many people use this time staring at their phones which can leave your eyes feeling strained (due to blue light emission). Listening to podcasts offers a refreshingly screen-free alternative. Just be careful not to get so engrossed that you miss your stop!

In my next post, I’ll be diving into the wonderful world of podcasts for language learners. With so many options out there, I’ll share some of my favorites in three categories:

1) Podcasts for Mastering English: Want to brush up on your pronunciation or learn new grammar tricks? These podcasts will be your best friend.
2) Podcasts for English Enthusiasts: Dive deeper into the English language with discussions on fascinating topics like the Global Englishes (yes, it is English in the plural form!) or Language and Identity.
3) Podcasts for Lighthearted Fun: Sometimes we just need a good laugh. These lighthearted podcasts will keep you entertained while you learn.

Whether you’re a seasoned podcast listener or a curious newcomer, I hope you’ll find something you enjoy in my next post.
